Once Karin had studied Reflexology with Chris Stormer, she also learned about the “Language of the Feet”, but right from the beginning she applied this knowledge in her very own way. She did not know the reason for doing so, but by experiencing with her clients the tremendous change in their well-being which was sometimes reflected instantly on the soles of their feet, she knew that something ‘special’ was happening. Moreover, not only the feet were telling her that her approach had positive results. At that time she was also studying the Aura Soma method to support self-knowledge and healing, and soon realised that the ‘story’ told by the four Aura Soma bottles chosen by the client and their foot-story were similar as well as complementary. Each client’s feet amazed her and each case was totally different from any other.
Born and schooled in Hamburg, Germany, 17year old Karin Richter started a new life as an au pair in German South West Africa after the end of WW2. At that time, her dream to study medicine was shattered, but she later completed her nursing and midwifery training in Pretoria and for many years worked as a professional nurse.
In 1965 she married Vittorio Lombardozzi and had three sons. In 1987 she started to study again and in 1987 obtained a post-graduate degree in Nursing Administration and Education from UNISA. As a clinical sister, she taught at the Nursing Colleges and at UNISA. In 1992 she decided to leave the nursing profession and pursue her interests in alternative medicine. Amongst other healing modalities, she studied Universal Reflexology, a gentle form of reflexology concentrating mainly on the energy field. Karin Lombardozzi holds diplomas in Reiki I and II, Human and Universal Healing methods I, II, III and IV, and Aura Soma I and II. She has read extensively about the interaction between body and mind, and is very interested in both homeopathy and Dr. Schuessler’s Tissue Salts. Since 1993 her focus has been on feet. She must have experienced thousands of feet and is still fascinated by each pair! Another name could be ‘The Foot-Approach to Psychotherapy.’ This revolutionary methodology revolves around the feet. Read more about those ‘Talking Feet’ and how conversations with them can improve one’s well-being. World-wide, there is a growing acceptance of holistic healing, involving body, mind and soul, not only concentrating on the physical body but placing emotional health in the foreground. Today people are conscious of their own feelings and those of others, thanks to the buzz word Emotional Intelligence. The Footology Modality forms part of this approach. In Footology Therapy the client/therapist relationship is special. They operate as equal partners in the process, but the client takes total responsibility for the outcome of the session. The therapist is expected to create a loving, supportive, non-judgemental environment. The client will be guided, according to certain indicators along his/her ‘footpath, to certain visible emotional blockages. This voyage will lead the client to view his or her inner world, the ‘land of dreams and fantasy’, where ‘old’ issue are ready for release. Case studies have shown that, ultimately, the client is in total control of letting go or still holding on for whatever reason or need. Release of emotional blockages will increase the energy flow in that specific area and therefore support healing and prevent illnesses. The foot-conversation is based on a triangle of participants, the feet, the client and the Footologist.Long, drawn-out interactions, which were often part of talk-therapy, are avoided, as well as the therapist being expected to find solutions for the client’s life crises. This methodology places client and therapist on the same level. The therapist’s role is only that of a guide, bypassing long conversations, rather concentrating on listening. The therapist will guide the client into the fantasy dream-world of the subconscious by providing three to four different possible meanings of the client’s foot mapping, and then step aside to allow the process to evolve. Only the client’s own ‘inner knowing’ can provide the answer. The Piloting story closest to the original emotional situation will trigger the re-awakening and ultimately the release of the blockage. Once placed on his path, the client will choose his travel route to find the destination himself Sometimes the result is visible immediately, but often it takes a while to notice the change. After having analysed the feet and assisted the release of hidden emotional issues, an extremely gentle reflexology called a foot-massage concludes the therapy session. This will relax and balance the body to promote healing. Reflexology Therapy is usually a firmer massage, often a deep muscle foot-massage, directed to be physically orientated and sometimes quite painful. The foot-massage, on the other hand,is soothing and gentle. One shouldn’t compare therapies. The client will choose the therapy which appeals to him/her and which will therefore be the ‘correct’ one. Only indirectly! Alternative healing approaches work holistically, meaning that body, mind and spirit function as a whole. These three areas can’t be treated separately and they depend on each other. Footology Therapy focuses on the ‘emotional features’ on the feet and assists the client to release emotional blockages, which might have been affecting the circulation of energy. When the energy flow is restored, it will promote the healing of related organs. Firstly Footology Therapy shows that the emotional frequencies housed in the body are engraved as insignia on the soles of the feet. A similar principle is found in Iridology, where the writing on the iris is analysed, or in Chinese or Indian Medicine, where diagnosis is based on the reading of the three different pulses, the features on the face or the tongue, etc. The focal point of Footology Therapy is on the emotional world which is displayed on the soles of the feet.Secondly, this unique method is used to assist and enable clients to release unwanted emotional baggage to support healing. Thirdly, therapist and client are seen as participating on the same level and the client takes full responsibility for the outcome. S/he is totally in control by the choices made during the process. You will find them on the website under ‘Footologists’.
That differs from person to person. We don’t like to dictate to our clients. They are encouraged to take responsibility for their progress and the time–span needed. Therapist and client are on the same level, none knows more than the other. Each process and its outcome is different, but progress will also depend on how much time and effort the client dedicates to his/her ‘home-work’ and living his/her life consciously. Living in a small village, I have been able to observe the progress and growth of some clients, and seen the difference between those who take control and those who are not able to take action without putting the blame on others.
In most cases there will be an immediate ‘show’ of visual changes in foot-features, but some might only happen after days or even weeks. Happenings inside the body are shown on the outside – the feet!
Feet fell, so to speak, in my lap! Every time I hold two feet in my hands, I realize that I am not holding only the feet, but am connected to the whole person; body, mind and soul – an awesome feeling! Listening and feeling inside oneself, while connected like this, one can often sense the other person’s pain, physically as well as emotionally. The most important and decisive factor contributing to the healing process is the client’s desire to heal. Secondly, basic to all vibrational/energy healing is the release of blockages which are interfering with the balance of the energy/chakra system, needed to support the body’s very own self-healing process.
Caroline Myss writes in her book Anatomy of Spirit that ‘your Biography becomes?? your Biology’. For thousands of years it has been acknowledged that the feet reflect the body. Only now we know that this includes the body, mind and spirit. Thinking and emotional energy patterns are written on the soles of the feet – our biography mirrored on the biology – appearing on the soles in miniature. It is a fascinating subject and never fails to amaze me, even after so many years.

What you don’t know about yourself, you will discover during your interaction with clients. It is a tremendous ??? No, I can’t say that. All the students would have been able to complete the course and pass the requirements of the Footology School, but there are some students who gave up on themselves! Self-doubt, not giving themselves a chance to learn and not being prepared to study intensely enough the required theoretical background are factors which stopped them from completing the course. But they would all have been able to become Footologists.
You will be a certified Footologist and can open your own practice as long you belong to an of Association of Natural Healing
Twelve or more different Alternative Therapy Schools have now been working for months on the different Curricula for their schools to obtain recognition by SETA. It is a long process, but we are getting there. |
